Biróg’s Lament – Part 1

NAQ – Not Asked Questions
A collection of questions nobody has asked yet, pre-emptively answered with questionable authority by Ross (Krakon Games.)
What are the Grime Reapers?
The Grime Reapers are the unsung custodians of the Caverns of Kel. They dispose of the dead, devour the dying, and generally clean up after the sort of unpleasantness that happens when adventurers wander where they don’t belong.
Are they evil?
Not especially. They’re performing a valuable public service, albeit one that involves dissolving corpses, swallowing bones and occasionally eating someone who isn’t quite dead yet.
What exactly do they eat?
Anything organic, preferably dead. Some aren’t particularly fussy about the second requirement.
Are they dangerous?
Only if you’re dead, dying, unconscious, asleep, stationary for an extended period, or smell particularly interesting.
Do they have a leader?
Not in any conventional sense. While presented as a collective set, they’re all creatures and entities from different factions, united in their purpose.
Can they be domesticated?
Certainly. If you can convince them that other pets aren’t part of the buffet.
What happens to all the things they swallow?
The useful bits are absorbed. The indigestible bits are deposited elsewhere. This explains why certain parts of the caverns contain surprisingly large collections of belt buckles, false teeth and wedding rings. At least until the Oozelings find them.
Why haven’t adventurers heard of them?
Because adventurers tend to leave dungeons once they’ve finished killing things. The Grime Reapers arrive afterwards to deal with the aftermath.
What’s their role in Biróg’s Lament?
They’re the first glimpse into the strange ecology of the caverns, where death feeds life, life feeds death, and nothing goes to waste.
The Grime Reapers launches TODAY on Kickstarter, for a 1-week funding window.
