While not my best selling range, Mykelings are the range I most enjoy working on. In October, they will be reinforced once again, with their nth project. I tried to work out how many Kickstarters I’ve run for them and got confused by the branching. Here’s a look at what has come before:
Mykelings 1
The first set of 5 models. The Toad-herder was my first ever Mykeling sculpt, sporting a sombrero-like cap, boxing-glove shaped claws and a wrestler-like mask. It’s accidentally a luchador/a. For some reason I went with a cowboy theme instead and opted for it to herd toads. As you do. This early on I discovered the joy of old English folklore names or fungi and began the journey of applying suitable names to each sculpt.
Mykelings 2
The second Mykelings project added 13 new sculpts to the range. I decided to group each set of 5 into “rings” primarily because they were being cast in metal and ideally needed to be sold in fixed sets. The extra 3 models were the sub-faction of Earth Tooths and spore belcher. My obsession with sculpting floating spheres had infiltrated this range already!
As with the first sculpts, all the Mykelings were sculpted with my favourite polymer clay, Beesputty.
The naming continued:

The third offering of Mykelings, Graveborn, coincided with Halloween, so I naturally offered some zombie fungi! The fourth ring of Mykelings were all zombified mushrooms, with a fifth ring of 4 models also being presented. As 2 of the sculpts were much larger, I kept the number at 4 due to space in the mould.
This project also offered some non-fungal sculpts, which would steer the follow-up Graveborn project away from the Mykelings. That featured just one mushroom!
Not shown in the banner are two stretch goal miniatures that were added, the dark tooth and fungal troll. Also, the names continued…
Mykelings 4
Not massively focused on the Mykelings, the fourth offering took another side step, offering just a few twisted fungi and an attempt at their matron, Birog alongside some Boggels.
Mykelings 5
Time to go big! The fifth Mykelings project explored a siege theme, with some of the largest sculpts for the range so far. Nothing has topped the Greater Earth Tooth yet though.
The names started losing their magic at this point, becoming more descriptive.
One of the stretch goals for this project was Multipart Mykeling warriors… Arguably cool enough to have warranted their own project!
Later projects explored some of these and other Mykelings models, presented a little differently.
A Cinderling first appeared in Pit Horrors.
Mykelings 6
The next project to wield the Mykelings title did so to present a different faction!
Here I expanded the Cinderlings, Twisted Fungi and large Horrors.
Omnipresent
Though no further Mykelings projects had been created since M6, they would appear in many more projects.
Dungeon Companions added the Kelhog.
Hallow’s Eve presented some Halloween themed tree folk and the germlings!
The Fey Gardener added the Seedsman.
The Underlords Evolved project added Pod and Swiftspore.
And most recently, Dewdrop 2 reappeared as Grumbledew, accompanying Gnarlwraith.

…and so we arrive at October 2026’s offering, Mykelings 7. Or will it be Graveborn 3?
