The Emberbound

Overview

Overview

Once slaves and soldiers in the dark foundries of the Korrigan lords, the Emberbound are a band of outcasts who turned against their masters. Where the forges of their kin once burned with malice and greed, the Emberbound’s fires now temper resolve, compassion, and defiance. They wander the lower caverns carrying fragments of their ancestral flame — not to destroy, but to forge anew.

Origins

The Emberbound’s legend began in the Cavern of Cinders, where a group of smith-slaves refused to craft chains for gnome captives. When their overseer struck them down, their forge erupted in unnatural fire — blue, pure, and cold. The flames did not burn; they freed. The survivors carried these “living embers” away, their bodies scarred but their spirits kindled. From that day, they swore no fire of theirs would ever forge shackles again.

Culture & Beliefs

The Emberbound believe that flame is a sacred test — both of metal and of soul. They preach that only through hardship can purity be found. Each member carries a shard of the Kindlefire, a magical ember said to have been born from the rebellion’s first forge. To let one’s ember die is the greatest shame among them.

They are wanderers, crafting weapons for the oppressed, repairing relics of light, and battling the tyranny of their own kin. Despite their grim appearance, their hearts burn with warmth and defiance.
